The short version

JuTalk turns what you say into text. To do that, your recording has to leave your Mac for a moment. We don't keep your recordings or the text made from them, and we don't sell or share your data for advertising.

What happens when you dictate

  • While you hold Option, the app records from your microphone. When you let go, the recording is sent over an encrypted connection to JuTalk's servers.
  • Our servers pass the audio to ElevenLabs for speech recognition, together with the words in your vocabulary list, which help it spell names and terms correctly.
  • Unless you turned cleanup off, the resulting text is sent to DeepSeek to be cleaned up, or rewritten as a prompt in prompt mode.
  • The finished text goes straight back to your Mac and is typed where your cursor is. JuTalk's servers don't store the audio or the text. Our providers process it under their own terms and privacy policies.
  • If a recording can't be sent, for example while you're offline, it stays on your Mac until it's transcribed, for up to 7 days.

What we store

  • Your email address and sign-in details, managed by our sign-in provider, Clerk.
  • When your free trial started, and how many seconds of audio you dictate each month, to apply your plan's limits.
  • Your subscription status, received from our payment provider.

Your settings, vocabulary and the list of apps and websites where JuTalk is turned off are stored on your Mac.

Payments

Subscriptions are sold by Polar, our merchant of record. Polar processes your payment details; we never see your card number.

Permissions on your Mac

JuTalk asks for Microphone access to record while you hold Option, and Accessibility access to notice the Option key and to type the text for you. It only records while you hold the key.

Deleting your data

You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account page. To delete your account and the usage data we keep, contact us and we'll remove it.
